TRENDING VIDEO: Stop Insulting President Tinubu, He Inherited Insecurity – Minister Umahi

David Umahi, the Nigeria’s Minister of Works has defended President Bola Tinubu against public criticism regarding the country’s security challenges.

In the video sighted by our correspondent, Umahi spoke to stakeholders and journalists during a town hall meeting in Gombe State.

He argued that extreme politicians are weaponizing and politicizing national security for political gains as the country moves closer to the 2027 general election cycle.

Umahi emphasized that the baseline insecurity, including banditry, terrorism, and historic farmers-herders clashes, was inherited from previous administrations and did not originate with the current presidency.

He urged citizens to stop insulting the President, view security as a collective citizen responsibility, and pray for the administration’s ongoing stabilization and economic reforms.

The minister’s remarks sparked immediate nationwide debate, reflecting deep divisions in how Nigerians view the responsibility of the state.

Civil society groups, opposition figures, and affected citizens point out that regardless of historical origins, the ultimate constitutional burden to protect lives and properties rests on the incumbent administration.

Critics express growing frustration over ongoing mass abductions, demanding measurable operational results and strict military accountability rather than political rhetoric.
