Suspects Kill 17-Year-Old Ex-classmate, Demand N150 Million Ransom In Lagos

Two suspects have been arrested for kidnapping, killing a 17-year-old victim Thompson, and dumping his corpse in a canal in Awoyaya, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, before demanding N150 million ransom from the bereaved’s family.

It was gathered that the victim, a former classmate of one of the suspects, had just returned from the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on April 22, when 23-year-old Elijah Emmanuel, and 21-year-old Tony Ogenata, allegedly lured him to their apartment and killed him before disposing off his body.

Narrating how they killed the victim, one of the suspects, in a viral video said, “I went behind the victim, held him and choked him for about a minute. I was feeling tired already but he was still alive. So, I told my associate to continue the choking. When did, we noticed that the guy had died. We tied the victim in a tope and put them in a big Ghana Must Go.

“When we go got our family’s place in Ikorodu, I called the victim’s family and demanded a ransom of N150 million. “I said these people are just playing games with us. But I said with that N3 million, after sharing it to N1.5 million each, I can use it to open a hair dressing shop for my sister because she is a hardresser but is working as a house help. She eventually said she wanted to send N200,000. So, when I got to Itamaga, I went to a POS where the victim’s sister sent N100,000 twice.”

The suspect stated that officers of the Anti-Kidnapping unit arrested him in Ikorodu, after they approached from their jeep pretending to ask him for directions.
