The USA-Africa command (AFRICOM) has released the video of Last night’s operation targeting a significant presence of ISIS fighters in Northeastern Nigeria.
In the operation, reports have it that multiple high value terrorists including Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, the ISIS second in Command was eliminated.
The operation, GISTSMATE MEDIA gathered, dealt a major blow to terrorist activities across Nigeria, the Lake Chad Basin, and the Sahel region.
US President Donald Trump had earlier announced the operation, describing al-Minuki as the second-in-command of ISIS in the region.
“Tonight, at my direction, brave American forces and the Armed Forces of Nigeria flawlessly executed a meticulously planned and very complex mission to eliminate the most active terrorist in the world from the battlefield. Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, second in command of ISIS globally, thought he could hide in Africa, but little did he know we had sources who kept us informed on what he was doing.” Trump reportedly said.
According to the US president, the mission was aimed at removing one of the world’s most active terrorist figures, whom he accused of coordinating attacks and supporting operations targeting Americans and African communities.
He added that the death of al-Minuki would significantly weaken ISIS’ global operations and reduce the group’s influence across the African continent.
“He will no longer terrorize the people of Africa, or help plan operations to target Americans. With his removal, ISIS’s global operation is greatly diminished. Thank you to the Government of Nigeria for your partnership on this operation. GOD BLESS AMERICA! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ), on Saturday, also confirmed the killing of Abu Bilal al-Minuki during a joint counter-terrorism operation carried out by Nigerian and United States forces.
