The party made the clarification in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.
According to the APC, all duly registered members of the party are entitled to participate freely in the ongoing primaries without any hindrance related to dues payment verification.
The ruling party explained that the requirement for proof of payment of membership dues applied only to aspirants and their nominators during the purchase and submission of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms, as well as during the screening process.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the requirement to show proof of payment of APC membership dues was applicable only to aspirants and their nominators during the submission of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms as well as during the screening exercise,” the statement said.
The party urged members and stakeholders to disregard contrary claims suggesting that ordinary party members must present evidence of dues payment to vote during the primaries.
The APC also appealed to party faithful across the country to ensure peaceful participation in the exercise and avoid actions capable of disrupting the electoral process.
The clarification comes amid reports of confusion and complaints in some areas over alleged restrictions placed on members during accreditation for the primaries.
Party officials maintained that the primaries were open to all duly registered APC members in line with the party’s internal democratic procedures.
