Aminat Titi Abubakar, wife of African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, has expressed strong confidence that Nigerians would demand a second term for her husband if he is elected president in 2027.
Speaking on Thursday at the ADC All Support Groups Town Hall Meeting in Abuja, Titi Abubakar urged Nigerian youths to rally behind Atiku.
Mrs Abubakar described the moment as their time to “arise and shine” and take charge of the country’s future.
She noted that Atiku has pledged to serve only one term if elected. However, she predicted that his performance in office would change public opinion.
“By the grace of God, when Atiku comes to this saddle, people will yearn that Atiku should continue and do second term,” she said. “By then, he would have tutored his deputy; maybe the deputy will take over from him.”
Titi Abubakar praised her husband as an experienced politician and philanthropist who would not need to learn on the job.
“Atiku is a sellable material. That is why I am so proud of my husband. Atiku is a philanthropist. Atiku has done it before. Atiku is not going to learn on the job. And Atiku is not a novice,” she stated.
She further described him as a “man of honour” who seeks the presidency not for personal enrichment but to improve the lives of Nigerians.
The remarks, captured in a video from the event shared by Vanguard Newspapers, have circulated widely online.
In the footage, Titi Abubakar addresses the gathering from a podium, surrounded by supporters in traditional attire and party colours.
Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president, is the ADC’s flagbearer for the 2027 presidential election after emerging victorious in the party’s primaries earlier this year.
