Troops of operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) of the joint task force in north-west have arrested a 50-year-old woman suspected of serving as an ammunition courier for terrorists in Kaduna.
According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, the woman was arrested on Wednesday, September 9, during an operation in Igabi LGA of the state.
Makama said the suspect was found with 300 rounds of ammunition concealed in a bag.
The publication said preliminary investigation showed that the woman had travelled from Zamfara to Lafia in Nasarawa state, where she allegedly received the ammunition for onward delivery to terrorist elements operating around Birnin Gwari in Kaduna.
Makama said the suspect and the recovered ammunition were taken into military custody as investigations continue to establish her network and intended recipients.
In a separate operation in Kubau LGA, the publication said troops arrested a suspected terrorist kingpin and two other members of his syndicate during a clearance operation at Dabar Dabo, a suspected terrorist hideout.
It added that troops, working with a community vigilante group, later the same day arrested another suspected terrorist logistics supplier in Birnin Gwari LGA.
Makama said four communication devices suspected to have been used in connection with terrorist activities were recovered from the suspect.
It said the operations were part of efforts by the military to disrupt terrorist networks and their supply chains, including the movement of arms, ammunition and other logistics across the joint operations area.
