NANS Oyo Calls For Security Beef-Up Around Ogbomosho Axis, Caution Against Spread Of False Information

The Leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Council (JCC), Oyo State, wishes to express its concern over the growing tension and fear currently being experienced across Ogbomoso and its surrounding communities due to recent security-related reports and circulating information.

As a student body committed to the protection of lives and the promotion of peace within our dear state, we strongly call on the Oyo State Government, security agencies, and all relevant stakeholders to urgently intensify and beef up security presence across the Ogbomoso axis in order to reassure residents, students, parents, and members of the public.

The safety of citizens, particularly students and school children, must remain a top priority at all times. We therefore urge security agencies to strengthen surveillance, intelligence gathering, patrol operations, and rapid response mechanisms within affected areas to prevent any possible security threats and restore public confidence.

At the same time, NANS JCC Oyo State strongly advises members of the public, especially youths and social media users, to desist from spreading unverified information, rumors, or panic-inducing reports capable of creating unnecessary fear and tension within the state.

While security concerns should never be ignored, misinformation and false alarms can equally escalate panic, disrupt public peace, and create avoidable confusion among residents. We encourage everyone to rely only on verified information from appropriate authorities and credible sources.

NANS JCC Oyo State remains committed to promoting peace, stability, and the welfare of students across the state, while continuing to support every lawful effort aimed at ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
