The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 33-year-old housewife, Hauwa’u Haruna, over the alleged killing of her co-wife in Tafawa Balewa Housing Estate, Bauchi.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement on Monday on behalf of the Commissioner of Police.
According to the police, the incident occurred around 4:05pm on Sunday, September 27, after the command received information about a domestic incident involving two co-wives living in the same household.
Preliminary investigation indicated that Haruna allegedly struck her 43-year-old co-wife, Jamila Adamu, on the forehead with a pestle, causing her to lose consciousness.
Police detectives attached to the C-Division responded to the scene and took the victim to the Specialist Hospital, Bauchi, where she was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.
Her remains were deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Sani-Omolori, ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation and prosecution.
The commissioner condoled with the deceased’s family and urged members of the public to avoid domestic violence and seek timely medical and psychosocial support for family members experiencing mental health challenges.
