Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has endorsed the Tinubu Must Go (TMG) movement, saying the campaign reflects a collective determination to “rescue” Nigeria.
According to a statement issued on Monday, Atiku, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), endorsed the movement after hosting Abba Hikima, one of the conveners of TMG, at his residence in Abuja.
The “Tinubu Must Go” campaign gained prominence during the Democracy Day nationwide protests on June 12, 2026, when protesters in cities, including Lagos and Abuja chanted the slogan while demanding action over insecurity and the abduction of teachers and schoolchildren in Ogbomoso, Oyo state.
However, the campaign became an organised movement in mid-September, with its organisers describing it as a non-partisan group focused on public enlightenment and building strong to Tinubu’s second-term agenda.
The movement subsequently conducted a 24-hour online poll from September 24 to 25, asking respondents who they would vote for among the leading opposition presidential candidates.
Atiku said he was impressed by the recent poll, which, according to him, attracted 109,799 respondents.

👉 JOIN WHATSAPP CHANNEL“I am particularly encouraged by the depth of citizen engagement reflected in the exercise, in which my candidacy received an overwhelming 73.6% of the votes, with the ADC emerging as the preferred political platform,” he said.
“Beyond the outcome of the poll, what is significant is the larger aspiration it represents: a growing national yearning for change and the collective determination to rescue Nigeria from its present trajectory.
“I fully endorse the movement and invite all Nigerians who share this aspiration to join this noble cause.”
The ADC presidential candidate said he looks forward to engaging with the wider national leadership of the movement as it works towards the broader objective of rebuilding a united, prosperous and democratic Nigeria.
