The Archbishop, Metropolitan and Primate of All Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Henry Ndukuba, has urged Christians to remain steadfast in their faith amid the economic, security and political challenges facing the country.
Mr Ndukuba said this on Thursday during an interview on the sidelines of the 27th Annual Diocesan Women’s Conference of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Diocese of Abuja.
He said the conference theme, ‘Rooted in Christ: The Hallmark of a Believer’, was relevant at a time when Nigerians were dealing with some socio-economic challenges.
The primate said many families were experiencing hunger and deprivation, making it important for Christians to strengthen their faith and trust in God.
“Many families are suffering from hunger and deprivation and at such a time as this, it may seem as if nothing will hold. But we are assured that as we have God on our side and put our hope and trust in Him, the Lord will uphold us as we remain rooted and built up in Him,” he said.
Mr Ndukuba expressed hope that the conference would strengthen participants’ faith, deepen their understanding of the word of God and encourage them to apply its teachings in their daily lives. He said he trusted that God would uphold families and bring blessings to the nation.

Ms Ndukuba advised women to collect their permanent voter cards (PVCs) and vote for candidates of their choice. She cautioned them against exchanging their votes for money or food, saying such immediate benefits could undermine their long-term interests.
“If they give you money, collect. If they give you food, collect but do not sell your conscience,” she said.
Ms Ndukuba said the conference theme, drawn from the Apostle Paul’s epistle to Colossians, Chapter 2, verses 6 to 7, meant to encourage women to demonstrate their faith through their conduct.
“Our women should be rooted in Christ by taking the word of God seriously and ensuring that the way they behave at home, in their places of work and in society reflects their faith. They should be the same person at home and outside; their behaviour and character should show forth the image of Christ in them,” she said.
Ms Ndukuba added that women should remain firm in their faith during difficult times and avoid practices inconsistent with Christian teachings.
The conference attracted about 1,200 registered women from different churches.
