A Nigerian man based in the United States, identified as Temmy Okanlomo, has come under heavy criticism after allegedly calling for the killing of an Igbo man over the purchase of a residential property in a Yoruba community.
His comment prompted widespread calls for law enforcement agencies in both Nigeria and the United States to investigate him for alleged incitement to violence.
The controversy followed comments allegedly posted by Okanlomo on Facebook during a discussion initiated by another user, Baruwa Babajide Eleniyan, who complained about an Igbo man said to have acquired a 16-flat building and planned to rent the apartments exclusively to members of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Movement.
Responding to the post, Okanlomo allegedly urged the complainant to resort to violence against the property owner.
According to screenshots of the exchange circulating on social media, he allegedly wrote: “Organise yourself and kidnap or kill him.”
He further claimed that the buyer had disrespected the “native land owners” and allegedly added that the property owner should either “pay” or “be sent to sleep.”
The screenshots, which reportedly featured Okanlomo’s Facebook profile and photograph, quickly spread across social media platforms, triggering outrage and condemnation from many Nigerians.

Several users on X called on both Nigerian and American authorities to investigate the alleged comments, describing them as incitement to ethnic violence and hate speech.
Many of the posts tagged the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), United States officials, the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force, urging the agencies to identify and investigate the suspect over the alleged threats.
Among those who amplified the controversy was X user Dr. Kenon, who shared the screenshots while appealing to anyone with information about Okanlomo’s whereabouts in the United States to report him to the FBI.
The post generated significant engagement, attracting thousands of views, reposts and comments, with many users expressing concern over the alleged promotion of ethnic hatred and violence.
As of the time of filing this report, neither Okanlomo nor the relevant law enforcement agencies in Nigeria and the United States had publicly responded to the allegations or confirmed whether any investigation had been launched.
