Cubana Chief Priest, the socialite, has called on residents of Imo state to mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
The celebrity barman recently addressed supporters in his capacity as the Imo state director of the City Boy Movement (CBM), a political support group advocating for the president’s Renewed Hope agenda.
In a now-viral video, Okechukwu claimed that Igbos now have direct access to the president through Seyi Tinubu, his son, and stressed that the group is committed to ensuring Tinubu’s return to office.
He also touted growing support for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, stating that thousands of Imo residents “are registering with the party”.
“We Igbos now have access to President Tinubu through his son. That’s why we are doing everything to make sure he is re-elected,” he said.
“Thousands of Imolites are trooping in for registration for APC. Ndi Imo don’t just love the City Boys Movement; they believe in it. Let’s do politics with lifestyle. On Asiwaju’s mandate, we shall stand. Imo is APC. Here, it’s zero competition.”
Okechukwu, a former aide to Hope Uzodinma, Imo state governor, has been an outspoken supporter of the current administration.
He formally declared his political ambition in late April 2026 after purchasing the APC’s expression of interest and nomination forms.
Despite failing to clinch the APC ticket for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru east federal constituency at the house of representatives, Cubana dismissed claims that his loyalty to the party has been shaken.
Cubana had also disclosed that he voluntarily withdrew from the primary race after consultations with party leaders over zoning arrangements that did not favour his local government area.
However, during a Twitch live session with streamer Peller, he claimed Tinubu does not fully trust him because he once worked for Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 poll.
