It is indeed very sad and unfortunate that the people of Akoko North Constituency 2, who have been consistently sidelined and marginalised by Hon. Ifeoluwa Ehindero over the past two years, are the same ones being mobilised to organise a so-called solidarity rally in his support.
This is a clear case of victims being forced or induced to celebrate their own oppressor, a painful reflection of the level of desperation and manipulation currently at play in the constituency.
The reported “thousands of youths” who allegedly staged the walk in Ikare-Akoko is nothing but a grossly exaggerated and misleading claim.
The youths of Akoko North Federal Constituency (comprising Akoko North East and Akoko North West) number well over 15,000. For just about 200 people, mostly hired or coerced participants, to be paraded as representatives of the entire youth population is not only deceptive but also a massive embarrassment.
This low turnout exposes the hollow nature of the endorsement and the failure of the candidate to genuinely connect with the people he claims to represent.
True popularity does not require forcing small groups of people to march on the streets with rented crowds and hired praise singers. If Hon. Ehindero had performed creditably and delivered meaningful impact as claimed, he would not need to rely on such stage-managed rallies with microscopic attendance.
The fact that only a negligible fraction of the constituency’s youths showed up speaks volumes about his level of acceptance and the widespread dissatisfaction with his representation.
Another notable youths, Adefemi Adamu Elegbeleye a.k.a Coolio declared openly in a public group that his people are passing through political marginalization.
The people of Akoko North deserve authentic leadership, not cosmetic solidarity walks and fake endorsements. This latest charade only further confirms the growing rejection of a lawmaker who has failed to justify his re-election bid.
We stand against fake endorsements.
