The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) on Monday released the results of its 2025 second series of the Computer-Based Senior School Certificate Examination (CB-WASSCE) organised for private candidates.
The examination took place in Nigeria between Tuesday, November 11 and Wednesday, December 17, 2025, with a total of 65,752 candidates, including those with special needs, sitting the exam across 370 centres nationwide.
Out of the total number of candidates who sat the examination, 27,727, representing 42.17%, obtained credit and above in a minimum of five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
This number consists of 13,416 males (48.39%) and 14,311 females (51.61%).
Meanwhile, the percentages of candidates who obtained similar results in this diet in 2023 and 2024 were 44.29% and 53.64% respectively, indicating a marginal decrease of 11.47% in performance this year.
The Head of National Office of WAEC Nigeria, Dr Amos Dangut, announced the release of the results in a statement made available on Monday night by the organisation’s spokesperson, Mrs Moyosola Adesina.
Dangut pointed out that 61,943 candidates, representing 94.21%, have had their results fully processed and released, while 3,809 candidates, representing 5.79%, still have some of their subjects being processed due to errors traceable to them.
He noted that efforts are ongoing to rectify the errors and release the results of affected candidates once the process is completed.
The HNO also stated that 1,899 candidates’ results, representing 2.89% of the total number of candidates who sat the examination, are being withheld in connection with various reported cases of examination malpractice. He said their cases are being investigated and that the reports will be presented to the appropriate Committee of the Council for determination.
According to him, the Committee’s decisions will thereafter be communicated directly to the affected candidates.
He advised candidates to check their results by first visiting www.waecdirect.org
to ascertain their status before proceeding to the Digital Certificate platform (www.waec.org) to access the digital copies of their certificates, which have been released along with the results.
He declared that, “Candidates will be required to apply for the printing of the hard copies of their certificates online through the WAEC Certificate Request Portal (e-Certman), with the address given as https://certrequest.waec.ng/
