‘Your Family Should Present Their Records Before Questioning Ours’ — BigDaddy Sugar Camp Slams Akinbode Over ‘Malicious Write-up’

The Big Daddy Sugar Media Network has issued a strongly worded and comprehensive response to a recent article authored under the name “Akintunji Akinbode,” which alleged that Mogaji Honorable Olajide Olatoye, popularly known as Big Daddy Sugar, lacks electoral value and a sustainable political structure in Lagelu Local Government.

In a statement released to the press, the media team described the publication as “malicious, empty, and deliberately misleading,” stressing that although it would have preferred to ignore the piece, it found it necessary to respond in order to correct what it called “a calculated attempt to misinform the public and distort political realities.”

The group questioned the credibility of the writer, pointing out that the use of a pseudonym reflects a lack of courage and accountability. According to the statement, the individual behind the article is well known but has chosen to conceal his identity out of fear and political insecurity.

“We would ordinarily not dignify such a baseless write-up with a response. However, it has become important to educate the public and put the record straight. The author’s decision to hide behind a false name speaks volumes about his lack of confidence and the fear that the name Big Daddy Sugar inspires,” the statement read.

Beyond questioning the writer’s identity, the media network extended its criticism to his family background, particularly his father, whom it accused of having a long history of political inconsistency and betrayal within Lagelu politics. The statement alleged that the writer’s father had, over the years, shifted allegiances and failed to demonstrate the kind of loyalty and impact that defines credible political actors.

“It is ironic that someone from such a background would attempt to question the electoral value of a man whose political relevance has remained consistent for over 30 years. We challenge the writer to come forward, state his real name, and present not only his achievements but also those of his father for public scrutiny,” the statement added.

Defending Big Daddy Sugar’s political standing, the media network emphasized his deep-rooted influence in Lagelu, describing him as a grassroots mobilizer, party loyalist, and community leader whose impact has been widely acknowledged across political divides.

According to the group, Big Daddy Sugar’s electoral value is evident in his ability to build and sustain networks, maintain peace among stakeholders, and command respect within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and beyond. It noted that his relevance dates back to earlier political eras in the local government, where he played significant roles in party organization and community engagement.

The statement also highlighted his philanthropic contributions through the Olatoye Sugar Foundation, which it said has continued to provide scholarships, empower youths, support widows, and uplift vulnerable members of society, even in the absence of public office.

“Electoral value is not defined by noise or propaganda but by tangible impact and connection with the people. Big Daddy Sugar has consistently demonstrated these qualities through his humanitarian efforts and unwavering commitment to Lagelu’s development,” the group stated.

In addition, the media network pointed to his active membership in several reputable organizations, including the Rotary Club (Akobo Chapter), Ajorosun Club of Ibadan, Ibadan Grammar School Old Students Association, Red Cross Society, Businessmen’s Fellowship (Iyaganku branch), and Lagelu Indigenes Club, among others. These affiliations, it noted, have further strengthened his influence and broadened his support base.

Addressing the claim that he lacks structure, the group maintained that Big Daddy Sugar’s political network spans across youths, elders, professionals, and grassroots stakeholders, making him a unifying figure with significant electoral appeal.

The statement also alleged that the writer’s attack was motivated by a desire to impress certain political figures, including Honorable Akintunde (AKT), while asserting that even those being defended are fully aware of and respect Big Daddy Sugar’s political strength.

“It is unfortunate that the writer, following in the footsteps of his father, has chosen the path of political opportunism, slavery and character attack rather than constructive engagement. Lagelu politics deserves better than anonymous propaganda driven by personal vendettas,” the statement said.

Concluding, the Big Daddy Sugar Media Network described its response as a final rebuttal to what it termed “reckless and unfounded allegations,” while reaffirming its commitment to promoting its principal’s vision and contributions.

It reiterated its challenge to the writer to publicly identify himself and his father, present their political records, and engage in an open and factual comparison, insisting that only through transparency and accountability can meaningful political discourse be achieved.
