An Oklahoma woman, Cherie Walker, has been sentenced to seven consecutive life sentences for failing to protect her 11-year-old daughter from sexual abuse by her stepfather and allowing the child to give birth at home without medical assistance.
Walker, 34, was sentenced by a Muskogee County judge on Friday, October 30, according to PEOPLE and local media reports.
She was charged with one count of child sexual abuse and six counts of child neglect in August 2025 after her daughter gave birth inside the family home on August 16, 2025, without prenatal care or medical assistance.
Authorities were alerted after the child was taken to a hospital following the delivery.
Muskogee County Assistant District Attorney Janet Hutson said Walker and her husband, Dustin Walker, claimed they did not know the girl was pregnant.
“This child is traumatized,” Hutson told KOTV.

DNA testing later confirmed that Dustin, the girl’s stepfather, was the biological father of the baby.
Prosecutors argued that Cherie knew her husband was sexually ab¥sing her daughter but failed to intervene or protect the child. She was convicted on all seven felony counts on July 17, 2026.
Her husband pleaded guilty to felony child sexual abuse and neglect charges in March and was subsequently sentenced to life imprisonment.
The child’s grandmother, Michelle Justus, was also charged after prosecutors alleged that she knew about the ab¥se but did nothing to stop it.
