The Nyesom Wike-backed Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has mocked the Tanimu Turaki group for protesting the candidates’ nomination access code sent to it by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Lere Olayinka, media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, poked fun at the group on X on Monday.
Olayinka, who is Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Public Communications and Social Media to Wike, simply tweeted: “Happy protesting,” with laughing emojis.
The Supreme Court on April 30 nullified the PDP national convention held in Ibadan last November, which produced the Turaki-led leadership. It was held with the backing of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.
Following the verdict, the self-styled Board of Trustees, chaired by Adolphus Wabara, redesignated the sacked Turaki NWC as interim National Working Committee.
In line with the apex court verdict, INEC has been dealing with the Turaki PDP, backed by Wike.
In another development, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the final list of candidates for the bye-elections scheduled to hold on June 20, 2026, across six states of the federation.
The elections are aimed at filling vacant seats in the Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly.
