Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Funke Akindele, has explained her decision to stop attending church services physically, citing the attention she receives during worship.
She made this known in a video shared on her Snapchat page while preparing breakfast for her children as they got ready for church.
In the video, the actress indicated that physical attendance had become uncomfortable due to the constant focus on her, which often disrupts her ability to worship.
She noted that she now prefers to join church services online.
The actress said, “Making breakfast for the kids. Getting them ready for church. Don’t ask me if I would be going to church, I’m not going to church. Anytime I go to church, na me dem Dey take pictures of, so I will join online.”
The development comes days after the actress addressed claims that she ignored Fuji musician Wasiu Alabi Odetola, popularly known as Pasuma, at a recent event in Lagos.
The controversy followed a viral video on X showing Pasuma attempting to get her attention while she was engaged in a conversation.
The clip captured the moment she continued her discussion before the singer returned to his seat, triggering speculation that she deliberately snubbed him.
An influencer on the platform shared the video with a caption suggesting the interaction reflected poorly on the actress, further fuelling the narrative.
Responding to the claims, Akindele dismissed the interpretation as inaccurate and maintained that there was no slight.
She clarified that she acknowledged Pasuma at the event and interacted with him warmly, including exchanging greetings and sharing a moment on the dance floor.
“Snub? Hell no. Stop the negativity pls. I saw him, greeted him, danced with him. Pasuma is my Egbon. Pls you all should stop this evil,” she wrote.
