Wase 2027: Youth Group Backs MD Wase, Kumbwang As Consensus Candidates, Vows To Purchase Nomination Forms

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Wase local government, Plateau State has produced two consensus candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections, with a youth coalition pledging to fund their nomination forms.

Hon. Muhammad Abubakar Wase has emerged as the consensus candidate for the House of Representatives, while Israel Abel Miri Yeriman Kumbwang, will fly the partyโ€™s flag for the State House of Assembly seat.

The decision was reached following weeks of consultations and stakeholder meetings aimed at presenting a united front and avoiding a divisive primary process.

Party leaders say the consensus model is intended to strengthen ADCโ€™s chances and consolidate grassroots support across the constituency.

In a show of support, youth movement called “Voice of Wase ADC” has announced that they are ready to mobilize resources and purchase the nomination forms for both candidates.

The group described Wase and Kumbwang as โ€œcredible, accessible, and youth-oriented leadersโ€ capable of delivering effective representation.

โ€œWe believe in the capacity of Hon. Wase and Hon. Miri to bring meaningful development to our people. The youth are taking ownership of this process because we want leaders who understand our challenges,โ€ a spokesperson for the youth group said.

Hon. Wase, a former North Central Students President has been active in community development initiatives, while Kumbwang, is known for his advocacy on youth empowerment and rural development in the state.

ADC leaders in Wase welcomed the youth initiative, saying it reflects growing political awareness and participation among younger voters. They added that the party will ensure a transparent and inclusive campaign process leading up to the 2027 elections.
