Primate Elijah Ayodele, leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, told the immediate past Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, that the key to becoming the next Governor of Oyo State was in his hands.
The statement is according to a video trending on social media and sighted by GISTSMATE MEDIA.
Primate Ayodele claimed that Adelabu reached out to him regarding his 2027 governorship ambition. Ayodele stated he told Adelabu, “What you need to become the next Governor of Oyo State is in my hands, come and take it”.
According to Ayodele, he instructed Adelabu to buy musical instruments for God (not for the church) as a way to seek divine mercy for his political goal, but claimed Adelabu refused, saying he could not do it.
The Primate stated he did not ask for money for himself, but for a spiritual requirement. He maintained that for years, he has held the view that it would take the grace of God for Adelabu to win the Oyo governorship.
While the minister has engaged in extensive consultations and declared his interest, he has not publicly confirmed or denied the specific request for spiritual items reported by Primate Ayodele.
Adelabu has officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election, stating it is his turn (a “Penkelemesi Èmilòkàn” approach).
He has stated that his ambition is sanctioned by God and that he has received encouragement from President Bola Tinubu.
The political scene in Oyo State ahead of 2027 is highly competitive, with multiple aspirants within the All Progressives Congress (APC) seeking the ticket, and the incumbent PDP government expected to support a successor.
