The Alaafin of Oyo-elect, Oba Abimbola Owoade, has arrived in Oyo town after receiving his staff of office from Governor Seyi Makinde on Monday.
The ceremony had the kingmakers, otherwise known as Oyomesi, top government functionaries, and eminent personalities from the state in attendance.
Following the presentation, Owoade headed to Oyo town where he was welcomed by a crowd of subjects and residents amidst drumming and rejoicing.
Prince Owoade is set to commence a 21-day traditional rites for the ascension to the throne as the new monarch of the town.
He succeeded the late Alaafin, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, who passed away three years ago.
