Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA operating in Kebbi State have recovered a large cache of high-calibre weapons and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in a sustained offensive against terrorist in the North-West region.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division Nigerian Army and Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba.
According to the statement, they successful operation was conducted on June 14, 2026, around the Dogon Daji General area of Dandi Local Government Area, Kebbi State.
The Army said troops engaged members of the Lakurawa terrorist group, bringing superior firepower to bear on the criminals and forcing them to flee from their hideout.
Lieutenant Colonel Osoba stated that troops subsequently launched an aggressive pursuit along the terrorists’ withdrawal routes, leading to the recovery of a large cache of arms, explosives, and logistics equipment abandoned by the fleeing suspects.
Items recovered during the operation included Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) launch tubes, several RPG warheads, multiple Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), two motorcycles used by the terrorists for mobility, battery chargers, and other personal belongings.
The Army added that troops emerged from the operation unscathed.
The statement noted that the operational success underscores the commitment of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, to dismantling terrorist and bandit networks across the region.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its resolve to sustain offensive operations against criminal elements, deny them freedom of action, and ensure the safety and security of law-abiding citizens.
