A video of Hon. Blessing Agbomhere, an All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for the Etsako Federal Constituency, Edo state has sparked debate online.
The footage shows him assisting elderly women with the labor-intensive process of frying garri, which is part of his grassroots campaign activities in its constituency.
Agbomhere performed this as a sign of solidarity with local workers while declaring his interest in representing Etsako in the House of Representatives.
The video has sparked a divide in public reaction. Some see it as a commendable show of humility and grassroots connection, while critics have labeled it a “typical political stunt” used to “weaponize poverty” ahead of elections.
Agbomhere currently serves as the APC South-South Organizing Secretary and is positioning himself as a candidate focused on youth empowerment and inclusive leadership.
In April, GISTSMATE MEDIA reported that former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, was spotted directing traffic in Ibadan, Oyo State, shortly after returning to the state following his resignation.
The incident occurred less than 24 hours after he resigned as Minister of Power to pursue his gubernatorial ambition in Oyo State.
He was seen in blue traditional attire controlling traffic along a busy road, specifically after arriving at the Ladoke Akintola International Airport to a crowd of supporters.
Hon Agbomhere, Mr Adelabu and others will not be the last, as 2027 race hit up, more drama and gestures will definitely feature.
