The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Adewole Adebayo, has accused Nigerian political leaders of using bandits to win election.
Adebayo made this allegation in an interview on ‘Politics Hub’, a programme on Vanguard.
He was speaking on the upsurge in banditry and terrorism in the country.
“If I was President now, there would be no bandits. If President Bola Tinubu does not want bandits in Nigeria by Christmas this year, bandits will go away.
“So, if the government wants to get rid of bandits, it can do it effortlessly. But government officials have complicated themselves.
“They need bandits’ leaders to help them win election and they need to make money out out banditry. They need to cover one thing or the other.
“But if the President says ‘I don’t want to see any bandits again’, you won’t see bandits,” Adebayo said.
In another development, the 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Party, Peter Obi, has declared his readiness to die for Nigeria, stating that genuine leadership demands the ultimate sacrifice in the face of the country’s worsening security crisis.
The former Anambra State governor spoke in a recent episode of the Black Box interview on Nevon HQ with journalist Rufai Oseni, posted on Tuesday.
He was asked what he would do as Commander-in-Chief to rescue kidnapped schoolchildren held in the bush, address the beheading of teachers and respond to the killing of senior military officers, including generals.
Although he did not outline specific operational strategies, Obi stressed the need for commitment and decisive leadership.
“I have fought criminality in Anambra. Commitment solves the problem for everybody,” he said. READ MORE
