Cristiano Ronaldo has married his long-time partner Georgina Rodriguez in a private civil ceremony in Portugal, bringing their relationship of nearly a decade to marriage.
The 41-year-old Portugal captain and Rodriguez confirmed the marriage on Tuesday by sharing a photograph of their hands displaying their wedding rings on Instagram.
The couple, who have been together since 2016 after meeting in Madrid, got married four days before Ronaldo’s club, Al Nassr, begin their 2026-27 Saudi Pro League campaign.
The ceremony was attended by the couple’s five children, according to reports.
Ronaldo and Rodriguez have frequently shared aspects of their family life on social media.
Rodriguez announced their engagement in August 2025, posting a photograph of her engagement ring with the message: “Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives.”
The couple have five children in their family: twins Eva Maria and Mateo, Alana, Bella and Cristiano Jr, Ronaldo’s son from a previous relationship.
The marriage comes as Ronaldo prepares for another season with Al Nassr.
The Portuguese forward has scored nearly 1,000 goals during a career that has included spells with Sporting, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus and Al Nassr, as well as Portugal.
He recently played at his sixth FIFA World Cup, matching Argentina’s Lionel Messi for the record number of appearances at the men’s tournament.
Ronaldo confirmed that the 2026 World Cup was his final appearance at the competition but said he had yet to decide whether he would continue playing for Portugal.
“I’m sad to be leaving the World Cup like this,” he said. “I gave it my all. I did my best. It was my last World Cup, yes, but I’ll now have time to reflect and be with my family. I won’t be making any rash decisions.”
“I don’t decide anything in the heat of the moment. Now is not important whether I will continue.
“I played 23 years in the national team and won three titles. Before Cristiano, Portugal had not won anything. The Euros was the most important. For me, 2016 has the same dimension as a World Cup, honestly.”
Ronaldo will be 43 by the time the 2028 European Championship, which will be hosted by the UK and Ireland, is staged.
For now, his attention turns to the new Saudi Pro League campaign with Al Nassr, who are managed by former Tottenham, Celtic and Nottingham Forest head coach, Ange Postecoglou.
