Police Confirm Bullet Parcel Receive By First Bank MD

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos Command, Tijani Fatai, has confirmed that the Managing Director of First Bank of Nigeria (FBN), Oluwasegun Alebiosu, received a parcel containing two live rounds of ammunition at his Lagos residence, triggering a major security investigation by the law enforcement agency in the state.

Fatai, who described the incident as a serious matter, disclosed that investigations were ongoing to identify those responsible for the parcel, which was delivered to the bank chief’s residence in the Ikoyi area of Lagos.

He disclosed this on Tuesday during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Ikeja, where he highlighted major achievements recorded by the command over the past two weeks.

According to the commissioner, the incident occurred on May 7, 2026 and was reported to the Command by the commercial bank’s boss hours after.

“There is a case like that we are presently investigating, and it happened precisely on the 7th of May, 2026.

“The MD of First Bank reported that he received a parcel that was collected for him by his guard in his house, and after opening the parcel, he saw two live rounds of ammunition. The ammunition is precisely 7.2mm ammunition. The matter aroused serious concern, and we immediately commenced investigations.”

He added that no suspect had been arrested in connection with the case, but assured that detectives were pursuing all available leads to unravel the truth behind the action.

“Although the complainant mentioned some people he thinks were behind the act. But that is his own suspicion anyway. I can assure you that our investigations will unravel those who are truly behind the matter”.

Meanwhile, the CP has urged the public to refrain from speculation as investigations continue, saying all claims and suspicions would be subjected to thorough scrutiny before any conclusions are reached, stressing that no individual or organisation has been linked to the incident at this stage.

The police assured that the investigation would be comprehensive and that those responsible would be identified and brought to justice.

Earlier, sources familiar with the incident stated that the package was delivered by a dispatch rider and received by security personnel at Alebiosu’s residence before it was handed over to him because it was addressed directly to him and marked confidential.

Upon opening the parcel, the First Bank chief reportedly discovered two live bullets concealed inside an envelope that did not have any lettering.

The package allegedly contained no accompanying letter, message or information that could reveal the identity of the sender.

The incident is believed to have occurred amid ongoing reforms and operational restructuring within the bank, including intensified efforts to recover outstanding loans from debtors.

Sources within the financial institution said the discovery immediately raised security concerns, prompting management to alert the Lagos State Police Command and other security agencies.
