PDP Useless To Nigeria As Either Opposition Party Or Ruling Party – Tinubu’s Aide

Dada Olusegun, Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media, criticized the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as ineffective for the country.

Commenting on a viral video showing PDP stalwarts fighting, Dada stated that the PDP is not useful as either an opposition or ruling party.

It should be noted that chaos erupted at the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday when supporters of embattled National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu clashed with those of Sunday Ude-Okoye during the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting.

Anyanwu and Ude-Okoye are laying claim to the office of the National Secretary of the PDP.

The BoT meeting was presided over by the chairman, Adolphus Wabara, and it was attended by other prominent members including the acting national chairman of the party, Umar Damagun; ex-Niger governor, Babangida Aliyu; ex-Kaduna governor, Ahmed Markafi; and ex-Jigawa governor, Sule Lamido.

While blasting PDP and Atiku Abubakar, the social media aide to President Tinubu said the PDP ‘cannot rescue Nigeria’.

“A party that began the construction of a national secretariat worth N16bn in 2008. Despite raising over N62bn through fundraising, the 12-storey project remains an unfulfilled ambition wants to ‘Rescue Nigeria,’” Dada stated.

He also took a jibe at Atiku Abubakar, saying there may be “a need to do more introspection rather blaming our party (APC) for the inability of his party be useful to the nation both as a ruling party and an opposition party”.

Earlier, Atiku, a former Vice President of Nigeria and PDP presidential candidate, had alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress was giving N50 million each to members’ of opposition parties.

Speaking in Abuja on Monday at a national conference on strengthening democracy, organized by various civic organizations, Atiku warned that the nation’s democracy was at risk of collapse if urgent action wasn’t taken.

“I want to say it here publicly. I met with a political party leadership in the present opposition, and they told me flatly that this government gives them N50 million each,” Atiku revealed.

He questioned the commitment of opposition parties to democracy, saying, “If we are not careful, we are talking to some of you here, but you are recipients of the N50 million from the APC government. Do we really want to fight for democracy?”

Commenting on Atiku’s claims, the APC Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, on Tuesday, accused him of desperation.

“As discerning citizens, Nigerians know better than to be distracted by the false alarm and hollow allegations of desperate politicians whose only goal is shore up their political relevance in the build-up to 2027 general elections,” Morka said in a statement.

“Atiku should focus on rebuilding his party and offering constructive solutions to Nigeria’s challenges.”
