Oyo State: Urgent Complaint On Persistent Electricity Crisis In Ibarapa Central, North, And East

To: The Management,
Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company / Relevant Authorities

Dear Sir/Ma,
I write on behalf of the Students and residents of Ibarapa Central, North, and East, Oyo State, to express our deep concern over the persistent poor electricity supply in our region (Ibarapa).

For over seven (7) months, we have endured:

1. Frequent and prolonged power outages

2. Critically low voltage supply if at all there is a few-time supply in a few areas.

3. Highly unstable and inconsistent electricity service

Despite multiple complaints and appeals from affected communities, there has been little or no tangible improvement. The consequences of this prolonged neglect are dire:

Students are severely impacted, unable to study effectively, or access vital academic resources in this digital era.

Local businesses, especially small and medium-scale enterprises, are suffering massive losses or have shut down operations entirely.

Daily life for residents has become increasingly difficult, with basic needs unmet due to unreliable power.

We are hereby formally demanding that urgent and visible steps be taken to address this crisis within the next seven (7) working days. Should there be no substantial improvement within this period, we may be compelled to resort to civil mobilisation to ensure our rights and welfare are upheld.

We respectfully request that your office:

Conduct a thorough investigation into the root causes of the electricity problems in Ibarapa

Provide immediate interim solutions to alleviate the current hardship

Present and implement a sustainable long-term solution plan

Engage openly with community leaders, student representatives, and relevant stakeholders in finding a lasting way forward.

Electricity is not a luxury, it is a fundamental necessity. The continued failure to provide reliable power undermines education, economic stability, and the general well-being of the people in this region.

We count on your sense of responsibility, and we look forward to your prompt and proactive intervention.

Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.

Yours sincerely,
Comr. Idris Adeboye Jimoh
