The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has announced the dissolution of the group’s third Directorate of State and the formation of a new fourth administration with new appointments across different roles and regions.
Kanu, who is currently detained in Sokoto prison over treason-related charges, said the decision takes effect immediately and is meant to improve how the movement is run and strengthen coordination among members.
He also said the change followed a review of the former structure and concerns over internal coordination and welfare of members.
In the new structure, Mazi Chris Nwaọgụ, based in the United States, was named as the Head of the Directorate of State.
Other appointments include Mazi Solomon Egbo as Deputy Head of Directorate of State, Nwada Ogwu Nnennaya Anya I. as Head of Finance and Budget Planning, Mazi Chigozie Okekenta as Coordinators of Coordinators (COC), Dr. Chukwudi Nwogwugwu as Head of Medical and Welfare Planning, Barrister Ikechukwu Onuoha as Head of Media and Publicity, and Comrade Emma Powerful as Spokesperson and Media and Publicity Secretary.
He also appointed regional and continental representatives. Mazi Teri Nemi was named African Continental Representative, Mazi Ndidi Awurum and Mazi Tochukwu Ikwuanusi were both named North America Continental Representatives, while Mazi George Umeh became European Continental Representative.
Nwada Oyitaghan Ejiro was named Deputy European Continental Representative, and Mazi Ace Ndulor-Egbulem was appointed Canada National Coordinator.
Others include Mazi Chukwuemeka Anoliefo as Asia Continental Representative, Mazi Prince Chimezie Alozie as Middle East Continental Representative, and Nwada Bridget Okafor as Woman Leader.
Mrs. Rachel Nwosu was named Israel Diplomatic Representative to IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu, Mr. Michael Statter as UK Diplomatic Representative to IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu, Mr. Mike Arnold as US Diplomatic Representative to IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu, and Mrs. Mercy Statter as European Women Coordinator.
He also announced special country roles, naming Mazi Abraham Ogbenna as Germany National Coordinator, Mazi Charles Okeke as Germany Deputy National Coordinator, Mazi Romanus Obichukwukamadu Uguru as Italian National Coordinator, Mazi Shedrack Nwafor as Italian Deputy National Coordinator, Mazi Simon Chibueze as Switzerland National Coordinator, Mazi Christopher Aka as Switzerland Deputy National Coordinator, and Mazi Paul Achebe as PRO for Italy.
Kanu directed members of the group worldwide to accept the new leadership and work with the updated structure, saying the move is aimed at restoring order and improving internal unity within the organisation.
