NANS Zone D Commends Osun Govt For Student Inclusiveness, Charges Other Southwest States To Emulate

The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D, commends the Government of Osun State for its commendable demonstration of student inclusiveness through the recognition and involvement of organized student leadership in governance-related engagements within the state.

The inclusion of the Coordinator of NANS Southwest Zone D, Comr. Adeyemo Josiah Kayode (BILLIONCODES), in the IMOLE Youth Campaign Team as a representative of the student constituency reflects a progressive acknowledgment of the importance of students and student leadership in societal development, public engagement, and governance discourse.

As the foremost umbrella body representing Nigerian students across the Southwest, NANS strongly believes that students must not merely be regarded as future leaders, but as relevant stakeholders whose perspectives and contributions are important in shaping policies and decisions that directly affect education, youth development, and the future of society.

While NANS remains an independent and non-partisan organization committed primarily to the protection and advancement of students’ interests, it is equally important for governments to recognize established student leadership structures as strategic partners in promoting inclusiveness, civic participation, leadership development, and sustainable progress.

At a period where many young graduates continue to face increasing economic hardship, unemployment, and limited opportunities, deliberate efforts towards involving competent youths and student leaders in governance processes remain commendable and necessary for national growth.

NANS Southwest therefore calls on other state governments across the Southwest region to emulate the example set by the Osun State Government by creating genuine opportunities for responsible student leaders and young people to contribute meaningfully to governance, policy conversations, and developmental initiatives within their respective states.

We also welcome every sincere and well-intentioned effort by governments, institutions, and stakeholders who continue to prioritize the inclusion, empowerment, welfare, and advancement of Nigerian students.

Once again, we appreciate the Government of Osun State for this recognition and reaffirm our commitment to continually advocating for policies and opportunities that promote educational advancement, responsible leadership, student inclusiveness, and societal development.

Signed:
Comrade Ojetola Babatunde Y.
