NANS Lagos Stakeholders Endorse Ademola Solomon Andoya For National Secretary General

…Calls on Other States, Zones and Blocs to Rally Behind a Tested Voice of Student Advocacy…

In the ever dynamic theatre of student unionism, where history remembers not merely the loudest voices but the most strategic minds, the political atmosphere within the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) witnessed yet another defining moment as the influential and ideologically driven G7 Structure of Lagos State officially endorsed Comrade Ademola Solomon Andoya for the exalted office of National Secretary General ahead of the forthcoming NANS National Convention.

The declaration, which has already begun to stir conversations across student political corridors nationwide, was made earlier today during a high level stakeholders’ gathering convened by the Lagos G7 Structure, a bloc widely reputed for its progressive ideals, organizational discipline, political maturity and unwavering commitment to the stability of the Nigerian student movement.

Speaking on behalf of the structure, the Southwest Public Relations Officer of NANS, Comrade Tope Olugbemi, described the endorsement as “a product of deep consultation, critical evaluation and collective ideological conviction,” stressing that the decision transcends sentiments, friendship or political convenience.

According to him, the choice of Comrade Ademola Solomon Andoya, popularly known within student circles as “Aluta Gas”,  is rooted in competence, consistency, political coordination and an already established legacy of purposeful advocacy for Nigerian students.

In an era where titles have become common but sacrifice has become scarce, the Lagos G7 Structure insists that leadership within NANS must once again return to individuals who possess not just popularity, but political intelligence, administrative understanding, emotional balance and the capacity to unify diverse interests under one umbrella.

The structure noted that student unionism is too sacred to be reduced to theatrical noise, transactional politics or seasonal activism. Rather, it must be driven by individuals who understand the burden of representation, the importance of institutional memory and the delicate responsibility of speaking for millions of Nigerian students whose voices often struggle to find expression within national discourse.

It further emphasized that Comrade Ademola Solomon Andoya represents a generation of student leaders whose politics is built not merely on ambition, but on participation, visibility, strategic engagement and years of grassroots involvement within the student movement.

Describing him as “a bridge between ideological activism and administrative coordination,” the structure maintained that his emergence as National Secretary General would not only strengthen internal communication within NANS but also restore organizational efficiency, documentation culture, accountability and productive engagement among stakeholders.

Comrade Ogunsanya Rasheed popularly known as “Ratio” also noted that the endorsement statement also referenced the ongoing political alignments within the NANS convention arrangements in the South West (Zone D), noting that with the Presidency ticket reportedly zoned to the Progressive Structure and the Office of Secretary General also strategically Zoned to the G7 Structure, it became politically necessary and morally appropriate for the structure to present a candidate capable of protecting the interests, integrity and continuity of student politics.

Observers within the student community have already described the endorsement as more than a routine political declaration. To many, it signals a consolidation of progressive forces within Lagos State and perhaps the beginning of a broader national coalition ahead of the convention.

Political analysts within student union circles argue that while many aspirants possess ambition, only a few command both structure and ideological trust, these are two political currencies that often determine the direction of serious students politics. In that regard, the endorsement of “Aluta Gas” appears to carry both symbolic and strategic weight.

The gathering itself reflected the magnitude of the decision. Present at the endorsement conference were notable leaders of the G7 Structure, prominent student stakeholders across Lagos State, the Southwest PRO of NANS, alongside seven serving Students’ Union Government Presidents who currently double as senators within the state student political Organogram.

Their presence was interpreted as a visible demonstration of unity, solidarity and confidence in the candidacy of Comrade Ademola Solomon Andoya.

Beyond the applause, handshakes and political photographs, however, the larger message from the gathering remained unmistakably clear: the future of NANS cannot be entrusted to uncertainty, inexperience or emotional populism. It must be entrusted to tested hands capable of combining activism with administration and energy with coordination.

The Lagos G7 Structure therefore called on stakeholders, ideological blocs, student leaders, SUG executives, zonal caucuses and delegates across the federation to look beyond propaganda, temporary alliances and political distractions and instead align with competence, capacity and continuity.

As the countdown to the NANS National Convention intensifies, one reality is gradually becoming evident within the landscape of student politics, endorsements may not automatically win elections, but they often reveal where structure, confidence and political direction truly reside.

And for the Lagos G7 Structure, the message has now been boldly delivered:
COMRADE ADEMOLA SOLOMON ANDOYA is not merely being presented as a candidate, but as a calculated statement for continuity, administrative coordination and a more organized future for Nigerian student unionism.

Signed:
NANS G7 LAGOS STRUCTURE
