A man, Fayode Adejumo, was on Monday arraigned before Justice Uche Agomoh of the Federal High Court in Ibadan for allegedly trafficking 2.7 grams of āColorado,ā a potent synthetic cannabinoid, within the premises of Agodi Correctional Centre.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Oyo State Command, charged Adejumo with trafficking illicit substances.
Adejumo pleaded guilty to the one-count amended charge when it was read to him.
Consequently, Justice Agomoh ordered Adejumo to be remanded in Agodi correctional facility and adjourned the suit until May 25 for facts and sentencing.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Mr D.O. Otunla, told the court that the defendant committed the crime on Feb 25, in the premises of Agodi Correctional Centre, Agodi, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Otunla further said that the NDLEA operatives arrested Adejumo in possession of a bag containing 2.7g of āColoradoā.
According to him, the offence contravenes the provisions of section 11(C ) of the NDLEA Act No. 30 of the Federation 2004.
In a related development, GISTSMATE MEDIA reported that Indian police have arrested a Nigerian woman and a taxi driver after allegedly recovering 3.6 kilogrammes of heroin during a special operation near the Goindwal bypass on the Amritsar-Bathinda highway in Tarn Taran.
As reported by the Times of India on Sunday, the suspects were arrested during an intelligence-led operation carried out by the CIA Staff, Tarn Taran, following a tip-off.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Surender Lamba, said the operation was conducted under the supervision of Inspector Rupinderpal Singh.
Lamba said police intercepted a grey taxi near the Goindwal bypass and arrested a woman, simply identified as Bela, āa native of Delta State, Nigeria, currently residing in Delhi,ā alongside taxi driver Dalip Kumar of Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
During a search of the vehicle, police recovered ā3.6 kg of heroin,ā as well as the taxi, one mobile phone and āRs 1,500 suspected drug money,ā the police chief said. READ MOREĀ
