A kidnapped woman and her three daughters from Ariko village in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State have successfully escaped from their abductors after spending 180 days in captivity.
This was disclosed in a statement by a security analyst and former Kaduna governorship aide, Reuben Buhari, on Monday.
According to Buhari, the woman and her daughters escaped from the camp on Saturday and embarked on a long trek through the bush despite being weak and exhausted.
The security expert noted that the woman, who was pregnant before her abduction, gave birth while in captivity, but the newborn reportedly died about three weeks later.
He further stated that the familyโs youngest daughter, four-year-old Christy, was ill during the escape.
โHer mother carried her on her back, but when she became tired, the 12-year-old sister took over,โ Buhari said.
According to him, the family trekked until nightfall on Saturday and spent the night in the bush before continuing their journey the following day.
The former governorโs aide explained that the four-year-old later died during the trek, adding that the mother and her daughters eventually reached a community in Kachia Local Government Area on Sunday.
At Kachia community, the residents assisted them and arranged medical attention before their planned transfer to Kaduna for further treatment.
