Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has revealed he was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer following a recent medical procedure, confirming that the tumour has since been successfully removed.
In a statement shared on Friday via social media, Netanyahu disclosed that doctors detected an early-stage malignant tumour during a routine medical assessment.
The discovery came after he underwent surgery for an enlarged benign prostate about 18 months ago.
According to the 76-year-old leader, the cancerous growth described as a small spot measuring less than one centimetre was treated promptly, with doctors confirming that the procedure “removed the problem and left no trace.”
Netanyahu stated that he is now in “excellent physical condition,” adding that he chose immediate treatment upon being informed of the potential risk.
“I had a minor medical issue with my prostate that was completely treated. Thank God, it’s behind me,” he said.
He also explained that the announcement of his condition was initially delayed, citing ongoing regional tensions.
The Israeli leader noted he wanted to avoid giving adversaries, particularly Iran, material for propaganda during a sensitive period of conflict.
The disclosure comes ahead of his planned visit to the United States, where discussions are expected around regional security and a possible framework for peace with Iran.
