Joseph Yobo Hails FCT Infrastructure Drive Under Tinubu’s Administration

Former Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo has praised the pace of infrastructure development in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), describing it as a reflection of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Yobo made the remarks while speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the launch of the Abuja City Walk in Abuja.

The former Nigeria international said the FCT is experiencing an unprecedented phase of infrastructural transformation, marking a significant shift in the delivery of public services and development projects in the nation’s capital.

He commended the FCT Minister, Mr Nyesom Wike, saying his infrastructure-driven approach to governance has set a new benchmark for public administration in Nigeria.

According to Yobo, effective implementation has long been one of the greatest challenges facing governance in the country, but the current administration in the FCT has demonstrated that meaningful progress is achievable through decisive leadership.

“Coming to the FCT and seeing what the Minister has achieved is highly commendable and worthy of emulation.

“He has raised the bar for governance by doing exactly what is required—providing infrastructure and delivering development to the people,” Yobo said.

He made the comments as the FCT Administration continues the commissioning of major infrastructure projects across the territory, including roads and other public facilities.

Yobo described the ongoing projects as monumental, noting that they reflect Wike’s track record of prioritising infrastructure development during his tenure as Governor of Rivers State.

“The projects being commissioned here in the FCT are not ordinary; they are landmark developments,” he said, referring to the Minister’s statement that the current road commissioning exercise represents only the first phase of a broader infrastructure development plan, with additional projects expected before the end of the year.

The former Super Eagles captain also expressed optimism about the future of sports development in the FCT.

He said Wike’s longstanding passion for sports and his record of investing in sports infrastructure while serving as Governor of Rivers State provide confidence that the sector will receive greater attention in the capital.

Recalling the Minister’s commitment to sports development and his support for Nigerian athletes, Yobo expressed confidence that the FCT would witness significant improvements in sports facilities and programmes.

“He is exactly the kind of leader who gets things done in this sector. I am confident he will put something excellent in place for sports development in the FCT,” he said.

The remarks underscore growing public interest in the FCT Administration’s infrastructure renewal efforts, which are aimed at improving connectivity, enhancing public services and supporting sustainable development in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
