JIBWIS Islamic Movement Members Demand AK-47s, Thr£aten To K¡ll ‘Inf¡dels’ In Enugu, Jos On A Sunday

A disturbing video has shown a group of young people, who are reportedly members of Islamic sect Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa’Ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), also known as Izala, jogging in formation while chanting for AK-47 rifles and singing about travelling to Enugu, Enugu State and Jos, Plateau State to attack people on a Sunday.

JIBWIS or Izala is a major Salafi Islamic movement in Nigeria. It was founded in February 1978 in Jos, Nigeria, by Sheikh Isma’ila Idris.

In the footage, the youths are seen jogging together while repeatedly demanding AK-47 rifles and chanting about going to the two cities, which are located in southeastern and north-central Nigeria, respectively.

The chants, which reference violence against people described as “infidels,” have raised serious concerns about the possibility of religiously motivated attacks and threats against residents of the named locations.

The footage, which has sparked widespread condemnation, features a speaker calling for an AK-47 rifle to travel to Enugu and open fire on worshippers on a Sunday, describing the city as a “land of infidels” and making verbal imitations of gunfire.

In another part of the recording, the group appears to threaten violence, chanting, “I will give them fire! I will give them fire! I will give them fire!”

The youths then break into a repeated rhythmic chant, singing, “Rudu rududu! Rudu rududu!” several times.

The demand for firearms continues throughout the footage, with the group repeatedly chanting, “Give us AK-47. Give us AK-47. Give us AK-47.”
