A 20-year-old man, Lawisi Safiyanu, has been arrested by the Jigawa State Police Command for allegedly stabbing a customer to death following a dispute over a N500 balance from the purchase of a mobile handset.

The incident occurred at about 12:30am on October 1, 2026, in Chamo village, Dutse Local Government Area of the state.

According to a statement issued late Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Lawan Adam, the deceased, identified as 25-year-old Muhammad Abba, had purchased the handset from Safiyanu for N1,500.

The police said Abba had paid N1,000 but was unable to immediately settle the outstanding N500, leading to a disagreement between the two men.

“During the ensuing disagreement, the suspect allegedly used a knife to stab him,” the statement said.
