Ignore Purported Dissolution Of Ogun, Ekiti, Ondo Excos, Turaki-led PDP Tells Members

The Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has advised members to ignore purported dissolution of the elected executive committees in Ogun, Ekiti and Ondo states.

The faction’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr Ini Ememobong, in a statement on Saturday in Abuja, described the purported dissolution as illegal and affront to the proposed reconciliation within the party.

“We have seen a purported announcement of the dissolution of the elected state executive committees in Ogun, Ekiti and Ondo states.

“This dissolution, which is illegal and unwarranted, is an affront to the proposed reconciliation for which talks are underway. This further attempt to deepen divisions at the state and other levels is null, void and of no effect whatsoever.

“We urge the state chapters, all officers of the party at the local government and ward levels and indeed the public, to discountenance the said notice and continue to exercise their lawful duties,” he said.

Ememobong said that for the avoidance of doubt, the leadership’s desire for peace must be understood in the context of the need for the salvation of the party for the purpose of the forthcoming elections and not otherwise.

In a related development, the Ondo State chapter of the PDP on Saturday dismissed claims that its State Executive Committee had been dissolved, maintaining that the party’s leadership in the state remains valid and in charge.

Chairman of the party in the state, Dupe Aisida, who stated this during a press conference at the party secretariat in Akure, described the purported directive circulating on social media as misleading and lacking constitutional backing.

Aisida said the state leadership had not received any official communication from the national leadership of the party regarding the alleged dissolution.

He explained that the attention of the state chapter was drawn to a statement reportedly issued by a group claiming to be the National Caretaker Working Committee of the party, announcing the dissolution of the Ondo State executive.

He said, “Yesterday evening, a letter was circulating on the internet and social media reportedly written by someone claiming to be the National Publicity Secretary of the Caretaker Committee of our party, stating that the state executive committee of the PDP in Ondo State had been dissolved. It came as a surprise to us.”

The chairman stressed that the current state leadership emerged through congresses conducted in line with the party’s constitution and monitored by relevant authorities, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the police and the Department of State Services (DSS).

He explained that the ward congress of the party was held on September 13, 2025, across the 203 wards in the state, with security agencies and observers present to monitor the process.

He added that the local government congresses were held on September 17, 2025, across the 18 local government areas, while the state congress took place on September 27, 2025, in Akure
