Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore have exchanged words on social media over Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
The controversy began after Sowore criticised Governor Adeleke’s administration, describing the governor in disparaging terms and accusing him of failing to provide basic infrastructure in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
“Demola Adeleke @AAdeleke_01 has no brains. Has nothing upstairs. The state capital, Osogbo looks like a war zone with no basic infrastructure,” Sowore wrote.
Davido, who is the governor’s nephew, responded to Sowore’s post by describing him as “Arindin.”
In response, Sowore quoted Davido’s tweet describing Governor Adeleke as “The real arindin is your uncle, @AAdeleke_01.”
Sowore went on to question the governor’s educational history, alleging that Adeleke had to return to obtain the equivalent of a GED after serving as a Nigerian senator.
“The real arindin is your uncle who had to go back and obtain the equivalent of a GED after he had already served as a Nigerian Senator,” Sowore stated.
Sowore also criticised the political relationship between Davido and the Adeleke family, alleging that Davido’s uncle chose President Bola Tinubu as his presidential candidate in the hope that political loyalty would enable the family to continue benefiting from Osun State.
He further accused Nigerian political elites of being “oppressive, corrupt, incompetent, and entitled spoilt brats,” while expressing confidence that Nigerians would eventually demand political change.
“But the tables will turn. The Nigerian people will not endure this forever. #RevolutionNOW,” Sowore added.
The clash comes just a day before the Osun State governorship election scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026, with Governor Ademola Adeleke seeking to retain his position.
