The lawmaker representing Ibadan North Constituency 1 at the Oyo State House of Assembly and Chairman, House Committee on Women Affairs and Community Development, Hon. Dr. Olufunke Comforter Adeniyi-Olajide, has reacted with deep sadness to the killing of a school teacher who was abducted by suspected kidnappers in Oyo State.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the female legislator described the development as tragic, horrifying and painful, saying the incident has left many families and residents devastated.
Speaking from the perspective of a mother, Hon. Adeniyi-Olajide said the gruesome death of the victim is heartbreaking and unacceptable, stressing that no family deserves to experience such sorrow and trauma.
She conveyed her sympathies to the family of the deceased, praying for divine comfort and strength for everyone affected by the unfortunate occurrence.
The lawmaker also acknowledged the proactive steps taken by the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde and various security agencies in responding to the security situation and working tirelessly toward the rescue of other victims still held captive.
According to her, the swift mobilization of security operatives and local security structures reflects the seriousness the state government attaches to the protection of lives and property across Oyo State.
“This unfortunate incident has brought grief to many hearts. As a woman and mother, I feel deeply pained by the brutal killing of the teacher. However, I commend Governor Seyi Makinde, security agencies and all stakeholders involved for their prompt response and continued efforts to rescue those still in captivity,” she stated.
Hon. Adeniyi-Olajide further appealed to residents to remain security conscious and cooperate with law enforcement agencies by sharing credible information capable of assisting ongoing operations.
She reiterated her commitment to supporting measures and policies aimed at strengthening community security and ensuring safer living conditions for residents across the state.
