GBAM! EFCC Arrests Two Secondary School Students Over Alleged ‘Yahoo Fraud’

Two students of Rumuolumeni Community Secondary School in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area have been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The students were nabbed over alleged involvement in internet fraud, popularly known as “Yahoo Yahoo.”

According to Tribune, the operatives of the anti-graft agency in Port Harcourt carried out the operation following a tip-off and investigations into the activities of the suspects.

Sources disclosed that the operatives stormed the suspects’ apartment located in Nkpor Village on Sunday and allegedly jumped over the fence to gain access to the compound before carrying out the arrest.

An eyewitness said the officials later forced their way into the apartment and arrested the suspects alongside several gadgets believed to be linked to the alleged fraudulent activities.

The suspects were also alleged to have been living flashy lifestyles, including owning expensive cars and openly displaying large sums of money within the school environment, a development said to have attracted admiration from some students and teachers.

When contacted, the Head of Media and Publicity of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Dele Oyewale, said he would confirm details of the arrest and get back to journalists.
