Social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, says he has received an invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
This came after a complaint submitted to the EFCC by legal practitioner Blessing Agbomhere of Blessing Agbomhere & Partners.
The petition demanded a holistic probe into the financial activities, sponsorship arrangements and funding channels of both VeryDarkMan and activist-lawyer Deji Adeyanju.
Reacting through his social media page, VeryDarkMan stated that the probe is a calculated attempt to silence dissenting voices in the country.
The activist equally alleged that members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, are using legal channels to initiate the inquiry to suppress public criticism of the current administration’s shortcomings.
“They want to stop us from speaking against this evil government that has failed to protect the lives of Nigerians. So, they used their people to write petitions,” VeryDarkMan wrote on his Instagram page.
In another development, GISTSMATE MEDIA reports that the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ilorin Zonal Directorate, have arrested a Nigerian-American, Adegoke Oluwatobi Adams, over an alleged cross-border vehicle import fraud involving more than $320,000 (about ₦434.88 million).
Adams, who holds dual citizenship of Nigeria and the United States, is being investigated for alleged criminal breach of trust and obtaining money under false pretences.
According to the EFCC, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly belongs to a syndicate based in the United States that specialises in defrauding unsuspecting Nigerians under the guise of purchasing and importing vehicles from America.
Investigators said Adams allegedly advertised and circulated photographs of a 2024 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG to prospective buyers in Nigeria, claiming he would purchase and ship the luxury vehicle to them. READ MORE
