The Nigeria Football Federation has sacked the technical crew of the Super Falcons following the teamโs failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Womenโs World Cup.
The NFF Executive Committee directed all members of the technical crew to step down with immediate effect on Monday, following the teamโs disappointing campaign at the Womenโs Africa Cup of Nations and subsequent World Cup qualifying playoffs.
โThe Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has asked members of the technical crew of the @NGSuper_Falcons to step down with immediate effect,โ the federation announced.
The decision came after the ten-time African champions suffered their earliest-ever exit from the Womenโs Africa Cup of Nations, losing 1-0 to Cameroon in the quarter-finals.
The defeat ended Nigeriaโs hopes of securing an automatic World Cup qualification ticket and forced the Super Falcons into the African playoffs, where they needed to beat South Africa to remain in contention.
However, the Super Falcons suffered another setback in the playoffs, losing 2-1 to Banyana Banyana and effectively ending their hopes of reaching the 2027 tournament in Brazil.
