GISTSMATE MEDIA reports that the kidnapped senior Anglican cleric, Most Rev. Prof. Godwin Okpala, has been freed.
Archbishop Okpala was released alongside his driver.
Okpala, a retired Archbishop of the Niger Province and Bishop of Nnewi was abducted while on his way to Umuchu, a community in Anambra State, for a burial ceremony.
Details of his release are still emerging, but the news has been met with jubilation on various social media platforms of the Anglican Church.
GISTSMATE MEDIA earlier reported that Mr Okpala, a professor, went missing since Friday morning, the leadership of the Anglican Diocese of Nnewi announced on Saturday.
The incumbent Bishop of the Diocese, Ndubuisi Obi, announced this in a prayer request posted on their Facebook page on Saturday.
Mr Obi said the missing cleric embarked on a journey to Umuchu alongside his driver, but they were yet to reach their destination more than 24 hours after.
