Iranian Chief of Staff, Abdolrahim Mousavi has reportedly been killed in a fresh series of air strikes carried out by the United States and Israeli armed forces, according to Iranian state television on Sunday.
The death of Mousavi, a key figure in Iran’s military command, represents a major blow to the country’s defence hierarchy and has drawn significant international attention, raising questions about the implications for regional stability.
The incident comes shortly after the confirmed death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during coordinated U.S.-Israeli strikes on Tehran on Saturday.
Analysts warn that the successive losses of Iran’s top military leaders could trigger profound shifts in the geopolitical landscape of the Middle East.
U.S. President Donald Trump has indicated that military operations against Iran’s leadership will persist until the nation’s top military command is fully neutralized, signaling a continuation of heightened tensions in the region.
