The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has alerted Nigerians of a fraudulent website announcing commencement of a new nationwide online voter registration exercise.
The Commission said the fake website falsely claims that the registration exercise will run from September 28 to October 27, 2026.
But INEC said the website as tinyurl.com/inecnigeria-cv is not affliated with it and the information published on it is false.
“The Commission wishes to categorically inform the general public that the website below is FAKE and has no affiliation whatsoever with INEC,” the electoral body said.
The Commission urged members of the public not to click on the link or provide personal information through the platform, warning that their sensitive data could be harvested or misused.
“Members of the public are strongly advised not to click on the link or submit any personal information on the website, as doing so may expose them to the risk of having their sensitive personal data harvested or misused,” the Commission said.
