FLASH: FG Approves Immediate Recruitment Of 1,000 Forest Guards In Oyo

The federal government has approved the recruitment of 1000 forest rangers to secure the Forest Reserves at different locations in Oyo.

Also, it assured the residents of Oriire local government area that their request on the location of the military post in the area would be looked into.

The Chief of Staff, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila made this known while delivering the message of President Bola Tinubu to the people of Ahoro Esiele on Sunday.

Presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

β€œAs part of immediate measures to strengthen security in the area, President Tinubu has approved the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards in Oyo State in collaboration with the state government.

β€œThe delegation also informed community leaders and lawmakers that their request for the establishment of a military base in the area would be conveyed to the President for consideration and approval,” the statement read in part.

GISTSMATE MEDIA earlier reported that a high-powered presidential delegation arrived in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, following the abduction of pupils and teachers from schools in Esiele and Yawota communities in Oriire Local Government Area.

The delegation was led by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, and includes the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; the Inspector-General of Police, Tunde Disu; the Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa; Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe; and the Special Adviser to the President on Public Communications, Sunday Dare.

The visit comes amid growing anxiety among residents and relatives of the abducted victims, who have continued to appeal to both the Federal Government and the Oyo State Government to secure the safe release of those still in captivity.

Security agencies have yet to provide an official update on the whereabouts of the abductees, but rescue efforts are said to be ongoing.
