Five Feared Dead, Banks Razed As Tanker Explosion Rocks Delta

At least five people have been reported dead, and several property, including two banks, were destroyed in a petrol tanker explosion that rocked Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The tragic incident occurred along Old Asaba-Lagos Road on Sunday afternoon, leaving a trail of destruction and injuries, with property worth millions lost to the inferno.

Sources revealed that the explosion was triggered when a petrol tanker overturned while navigating a turn near First Bank in Agbor.

ā€œWe were told that the petrol tanker fell by the First Bank in Agbor when the driver tried to make a turn at the old Lagos/Asaba road,ā€ an eyewitness recounted.

He described the scene as chaotic and tragic. ā€œAs I ran to the scene to find out, it was devastating. Five people have been confirmed dead while property, including two banks, were still burning.ā€

The witness further lamented the absence of emergency response teams. ā€œWe are yet to see firefighters at the scene, the fire is still burning as I speak to you now.ā€
