First Lady Visits Sultan Of Sokoto, Seeks Continued Support For Tinubu’s Administration 

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu on Saturday paid a courtesy visit to the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, where she expressed appreciation for the monarch’s unwavering support and guidance to the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking during the visit to the Sultan’s palace in Sokoto, the First Lady said the revered traditional ruler had remained a dependable source of counsel since the inception of the administration, noting that his guidance had continued to help steer the government in the right direction.

This was contained in a statement issued by her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Busola Kukoyi.

Recalling the long-standing relationship between their families, Senator Tinubu said the visit was primarily to thank the Sultan for his consistent support and fatherly role.

Responding, the Sultan called for sustained prayers for the nation, saying Nigeria’s leaders must continually seek divine intervention, particularly against those perpetrating violence and other acts of evil across the country.

He prayed that those engaged in criminal activities would experience genuine repentance and embrace peaceful living.

The monarch also commended the First Lady for the interventions of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), describing the programme as one that has positively impacted the lives of millions of Nigerians.

According to him, the initiative has provided meaningful support to citizens across the country through its various empowerment and welfare programmes.

Sokoto State Governor, Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, also lauded the First Lady for visiting the revered monarch, while reaffirming the positive impact of the Renewed Hope Initiative on Nigerians.

The governor described the programme’s interventions as people-centred, saying they were designed to improve the lives of women, youths, children and families across the country.

The visit ended with the Sultan inviting Islamic scholars to offer prayers for Nigeria, President Tinubu, the First Lady, the Sokoto State Governor, himself and the people of Sokoto State.
