The candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) for Ibadan North Constituency I and the incumbent member representing the constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Olufunke Comforter Adeniji Olajide, has congratulated fathers across Nigeria and around the world on the occasion of this year’s Father’s Day celebration.
In a statement issued by her media team and made available to journalists on Sunday, Hon. Comforter described fathers as indispensable pillars of the family whose commitment, guidance and sacrifices contribute significantly to the stability and growth of society.
The lawmaker, who also serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development, noted that fathers occupy a vital position in the family structure by providing leadership, protection, support and moral direction to their children and loved ones.
She stated that Father’s Day offers an opportunity to recognize and appreciate the efforts of men who work diligently to ensure the well-being of their families, often making personal sacrifices to create better opportunities for future generations.
According to her, the influence of responsible fathers extends beyond the home, as they help to shape the values, attitudes and character of young people who eventually become leaders and contributors to national development.
Hon. Comforter emphasized that strong family values remain essential for building peaceful and prosperous communities, adding that fathers play a major role in instilling discipline, integrity, respect and a strong work ethic in their children.
She encouraged fathers to remain steadfast in their responsibilities despite the economic and social challenges facing the country, noting that their dedication and resilience continue to inspire hope and strengthen family bonds.
The lawmaker also called on government institutions, religious bodies and community leaders to promote programmes and policies that support responsible parenting and family development, stressing that a healthy society begins with stable homes.
Hon. Comforter expressed gratitude to fathers across Ibadan North Constituency I and Oyo State for their contributions to community growth, peace and social progress, while acknowledging the positive impact many continue to make through mentorship and service.
She prayed for God’s continued protection, wisdom, good health and strength for fathers as they carry out their responsibilities and strive to provide for their families.
